Nuveen announces long-term charitable partnership with LGBTQ+ Albert Kennedy Trust
Nuveen, the $1.2tn global asset manager, has committed to partnering with the Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT) to support LGBTQ+ young people for at least the next three years.
The partnership will see Nuveen provide an annual charitable contribution towards the Trust’s work with LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or living in hostile environments around the UK. It builds on Nuveen’s existing relationship with the organisation on behalf of its International Alliance Business Resource Group (BRG).
Melissa St Clair, Head of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at Nuveen, said:
“This partnership demonstrates Nuveen’s continued commitment to making an impact within the communities where we live and work. The latest partnership on behalf of Nuveen’s Alliance BRG, which has over 160 members across six countries, is the latest in a series of campaigns we have been running to support LGBTQ+ people around the world.
“We have launched the contribution this month in honour of Pride Month, which is dedicated to the celebration of LGBTQ+ pride all around the world. It builds on our programme of international events which have included our participation in Pride marches around the world, bake sales, and internal talks educating our community on key issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community.”
Amy Heritage, Director of Marketing and Communications at AKT charity, said:
“This partnership with Nuveen amplifies our voice at such a critical time. As the UK’s only LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity, we understand the importance of Pride for engaging businesses, with more than half of our corporate donations made during the Pride season. But ongoing partnerships like this are vital to our ongoing services to support LGBTQ+ young people at risk of homelessness all year round.
We are passionate about collaborating with corporate partners like Nuveen, who are committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality internally, and who are seeking to build meaningful partnerships. From everyone at akt, we thank Nuveen for their support.”
Nuveen’s charitable contributions scheme is an annual programme offering the firm’s BRGs the opportunity to support charities aligned to their values of inclusion, diversity and equity (ID&E). Each BRG gets the opportunity to pick a charity of their choice and commit to a charitable giving scheme to drive meaningful change and efforts on the charity’s side.
