About Derek S. Wolff

Derek oversees strategic product development for Nuveen Asset Management, including the development of retail listed investment products, institutional products, and other strategic initiatives.

When he joined in 2004, he was a senior research analyst for the firm’s municipal fixed income team and led the municipal healthcare research team. As an analyst, Derek covered the hospital and long-term sectors in the high-grade, high-yield, and distressed parts of the market. Before entering the investment industry, Derek served as the deputy director for Japan Affairs in the Office of the United States Trade Representative in Washington, D.C. He also held positions as a policy analyst for the National Economic Council of the White House and as coordinator for International Relations for the Department of Commerce, Industry and Labor in Okayama, Japan. Derek began working in the investment industry in 2004.

Derek graduated with a B.A. from Carleton College and both an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, and has been a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. He has also served on the Board of the Chicago Municipal Analysts Society.
