About Mary Beth Ramsay

Mary Beth serves as Chief Risk Officer, and is a member of the Extended Leadership Team. In this role she is responsible for financial risk management of Nuveen investments and the TIAA General Account as well as ensuring compliance with all Nuveen policies. She serves as chair of the firm’s Asset Liability Committee and is a member of the Capital and Finance Committee.

Prior to joining TIAA, Mary Beth was SVP, Actuary and Head of Client Solutions at SCOR Global Life leading a team of account executives and marketing actuaries responsible for providing customized solutions to life insurance clients. Prior to that role she was the U.S. Chief Pricing Actuary for SCOR. Mary Beth started her career as a defined benefit consulting actuary advising clients on cash contribution strategies, expected cash flows, financial reporting, plan design, and other pension considerations before moving on to risk management and overseeing life, annuity, and pension reinsurance transactions. Mary Beth has over 30 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry focusing on bringing new products to market as well as overseeing risk management and actuarial functions.

Mary Beth holds a B.S.B.A. in Actuarial Science from Drake University. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She also serves on the Society of Actuaries Board of Directors.
