About Katherine Renfrew

Katherine is the Head of Emerging Markets Corporates and Quasi-Sovereigns and serves as the lead portfolio manager for Nuveen’s total return and corporate-focused emerging markets fixed income strategies. She has served as the lead PM of the flagship Emerging Markets Debt strategy since its 2004 inception. Katherine is also a member of the Investment Committee, which establishes investment policy for all global fixed income products.

Katherine joined the firm in 1997 and, prior to her current role, she managed the emerging markets debt team and was lead portfolio manager for sovereigns and corporates. Other responsibilities included serving as a regional portfolio manager, which involved research and trading duties across global markets. She was ranked as one of the Top 20 female portfolio managers in the United States by Citywire Professional Buyer magazine in 2019 and 2018.

Prior to joining the firm, she was a fixed income securities analyst at MONY Capital Management and a financial analyst at Mattel Toys.

Katherine graduated with a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the Columbia Business School at Columbia University.
