About Derek Jun

Derek serves as the head of climate risk for TIAA and Nuveen. As part of TIAA’s Enterprise Risk Management, Derek is responsible for leading integration of climate-related risks into various existing investment and risk management frameworks. As part of Nuveen Risk Management, Derek provides risk oversight of climate risk assessment, integration, reporting and advice as it relates to Nuveen’s third-party clients. In addition, Derek oversees investment risk for Nuveen Real Assets, where he is responsible for risk oversight of funds and directly managed investments across Nuveen’s Real Assets platform. He participates in NNC and AGR investment committee meetings as a non-voting member. He is a co-chair of the Real Assets Operating Oversight Committee.

Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Derek worked with Salient Partners in New York as an equity analyst covering natural resource sectors and at UBS as a quantitative analyst. He began his career in 2005 at Wachovia in its investment banking division focused on structured products.

Derek graduated with an A.B. in Economics with certificates in Finance and Computational Mathematics from Princeton University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst®, CAIA and FRM designations.
