Anthony Garcia

Anthony is a Senior Director with the Responsible Investing (RI) team at Nuveen. Nuveen’s Responsible Investing team supports the integration of ESG factors into the investment decision-making process and develops RI-focused products and solutions for clients seeking to pursue ESG objectives alongside their performance objectives and risk-adjusted returns. Nuveen’s RI framework establishes the firm’s overall RI philosophy and uses expertise across asset classes to create differentiated solutions for clients.

Anthony’s responsibilities include leading the stewardship process to influence companies and other members of the investor ecosystem and advocate for increased transparency and accountability to promote risk mitigation. Anthony oversees a team of sector-specialized analysts that conduct the engagement and proxy voting activities at the enterprise-level and support fund-level strategies to align company expectations with fund objectives.

Prior to joining Nuveen, Anthony worked as a policy advisor to institutional investors at Institutional Shareholder Services. His other professional experiences include a variety of financial and legal research positions.

He graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Hamilton College and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University.
