About Marc deBree

Marc is Head of Real Estate and Alternatives for the TIAA General Account. He is responsible for developing and directing investment strategy and overseeing investment activity within the General Account’s global, multi-asset class alternatives portfolio.

Previously, Marc had been part of the portfolio management team at Nuveen Real Estate where he led acquisition and disposition activities for multiple accounts along with the development of investment management strategies for existing investments. Marc joined TIAA in 2007 and prior to his portfolio management roles, sourced and underwrote new real estate investment opportunities in markets across the U.S. Before joining TIAA, he was as an environmental planner advising private sector and public sector stakeholders on their natural resource management initiatives. He has also served on a variety of local and state level advisory boards focused on smart growth and land resource management.

Marc graduated with a B.A. in Urban Studies from The College of Wooster, and both an M.B.A. and a Master's of Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a CAIA charterholder.
